What are the ages of the students?
Green Garden Preschool ages range from 2.5 to 5 years old. All teachers are certified to teach Preschool and Kindergarten.
Where is the school located?
Green Garden occupies the entire main floor of 3050 Hawks Avenue. There is access to the classroom through a private front door with security and the back door leads to a fenced in playground area. The main classroom is over 1300 square feet with areas of play designated into individual centers - art room, block area, dramatic play, teacher direct, learning center, library, bathrooms, and kitchen area.
How many students are in the class?
We have a small classroom size of twelve students with three certified teachers, giving us a ratio of four children per adult. Each teacher holds a bachelor's degrees in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or holds a teaching certificate with an Early Childhood endorsement.
Does my preschooler need to be potty trained?
No. When preschoolers are forced into potty training it may cause more stress and set backs. It is our belief to encourage the process in a positive and stress-free environment. Therefore, we welcome children who are at the training stage of their potty training journey. Preschoolers should come with extra supplies (wipes, pull ups, training pants, clothes, etc).
What safety precautions do you use for entering classroom?
We use high quality monitoring systems through ring.com and Infinity Home Security. Our school has monitoring cameras outside that alert us if someone is entering the area within 50 feet of the building. The cameras are on the teacher's iPhones, iPads and computers. Those that are not parents must ring the bell located by the front door and we are able to communicate visually as well as through audio without opening the doors. All parents/guardians are given a passcode to enter the building. They must lock the door upon entering and exiting the classroom. Chimes are also set off if any doors are opened. Our code to the front door is changed randomly for security protection.
How do I know how my child is progressing at school?
We send home "Ask Me About My Day!" through daily emails that details what your child worked on in small group art, explore, learning, along with what story is read that day with a daily question. At the end of each week, we send home pictures of the children taken throughout the week at school. Children love seeing pictures of themselves and their friends and this allows you to ask questions about your child's experiences at school. We send home a portfolio for each child at the end of each month filled with pictures and anecdotes along with which learning group they are in. This allows you to see how your child is progressing in areas such as literacy, math, fine motor, and social skills.
